Make sure that you are not videoing directly into the sun.
Set the camera to a high quality setting. Many video formats use compression technologies. The more one compresses the video, the smaller the final file size. Whilst small files are generally good for the web, they are not necessarily good for viewing and can be very blurry or jumpy. The reason is that, compression reduces video quality when it is replayed.

Avoid settings that say things like email. Generally, they compress a video too much. Transfer your video to your computer and view it yourself first. Jerky or jumpy video movements could lose marks in a dressage competition.
Make sure that you set the light settings so they are compatible with the weather conditions.

What happens if I do not know how to prepare the video for use on the web site?

We accept DVD'S as well as CD'S. Just copy your video to disc and post it to us. You can also now upload your video file to You Tube and email us your link. if you need advice on compressing your file to below 100mb email stevie@interdressage.com for more advice or see the links on the home page.

Any tips on getting a good video?

Always film with your back to the sun.
Make sure you keep the camera steady and try and keep the horse in the centre of the frame
Try not to film when there is a sharp contrast in light and dark areas in the arena.
Use the highest quality setting on your camera.
Set the zoom before you start and do not alter it once you have started filming.
Make sure the light setting is correct for the time of day you are filming at.
Stand at C either with your back to C or behind C facing A and do not move from that spot.
Make sure you video from the start of the test as they turn onto the centre line and keep videoing until after the final halt so we can see some walk work as they leave the arena. (Just half a dozen steps or so).
Film with the sound turned off if this is an option on the equipment you are using. This helps to keep the file size down.
