Upcoming classes

Postby missmolly on Sun Mar 07, 2010 8:23 pm

What class is everyone planning on entering next?

Im looking at the practical horsemanship class in Mar. Just practising the lowering the head, and trying to make our turns on forehand more even/consistant.

I'm planning to do the Practical Horsemanship test and Intermediate 8 in march, if we can manage the counter-canter... e need to practice! It also depends on how our "arena" is. It is actually a parking lot, bot when it is snow covered it works fine for riding. Som time in march or april the snow on the roads will be gone, and we can obviously not ride dressage on tarmac. Our other "arena" will not be rideable until some time in May.

Looking forward to the pairts class in April - really enjoyed this months and amazed at our score 76% :D Hopefully the woman i rode with will want to do it again!

Then its walk/trot and starter tests when Charlie is behaving - i know my faults and really could do with working on them too - think i need some lessons both for me and Charlie but its affording them - maybe once ive got my exams at end of march out of the way i will be able too, need to get back in the outdoor too and work charlie thro is nappyness out there! Hi There

Am probably looking at entering for the April tests because Chewy has been in the last two weeks with a penetration/abscess in his foot  so hasn't been ridden but hopefully that seems to be sorted now and am waiting for my farrier to give him the all clear tomorrow so he can go back out. He'll certainly need a few days to let off steam with the herd before I try to ride him again because he is like a wound-up spring at the moment just waiting to explode!

As we haven't done Interdressage in a while (because we were waiting for over 6 months for our manege to be refurbished) so will probably start with a Walk and Trot test and depending on how that goes maybe the Starter Dressage Test 5...

sorry to hear about chewys abscess Tanya-there is nothing worse!
Cei is once again bogged down-this time with a really bad choke that managed to scare the bjesus out of me! She will be going in for a proper "look see" at the vets in April so fingers crossed! I really dont want a re-run of last year !
Im hoping Karina leaves the team events for a long time so we can get back on our way for that!

Thanks crankymare! Chewy was given the all clear by my farrier on Wednesday afternoon so I went straight to the yard after work and walked him up the field to turn out with the herd. I put his bridle on as I had a feeling he would be a handful and didn't I know it! Naughty boy was shouting his head off for the herd and being a right pain jogging about while I was trying to undo the padlock to the gate and how I managed to get his bridle off before he bolted into the distance is a miracle!

Then followed a big hoolie round the field with his buddies (all 20 of them!) it sounded like an earthquake lol

Am hoping he will have let off sufficient steam by the time I get him in to ride or lunge on Saturday (not sure which depends how brave I'm feeling!)

I hope Cei is taking it easy and feeling better - I feel for you, choke is a very scary thing to watch and must be dreadfully worrying for you

I'm thinking of entering the advaced test in april, it looks fairly straight forward, but I'm not shure. It depends on my instructor really, as I need to get some more lessons before that.
I didn't really find anything for us in march, because showing = a jacket, wich is hard to transport to the stable every time and keep it looking nice (I have to go by bus).
But I have another treat for us in march as we are going with a friend to a weekend training camp held by Rob Leese and Ben Millchap, this weekend, and I can hardly wait. Not shure if Sali will be very happy after I get her in the trailer, but we can only hope....
I'm sort of regretting not signing up for the horsemanship part of the weekend as I've been struggling to catch her this last week, and that's usually not a problem untill the grass comes out!
Anyone else going to enter the advanced test in april?
